frequently asked questions
WHAT AREAS DO YOU SERVE?
We serve Greater Boston and the North Shore.
WHAT IS YOUR STYLE AND PHILOSOPHY?
What is yours? Our philosophy is that you are the parents and we are here to help you realize and develop your own way to be. As such, our style is to be supportive, non-judgmental and nurturing. We will serve you according to your personal preferences. We will offer you the evidence-based information for your education, but we will not introduce an agenda of our own into your parenting experience.
DO YOU TRANSPORT?
No, we do not transport clients.
We can travel with you, but we cannot be in the driver's seat.
ARE REFERENCES AVAILABLE?
Yes indeed. These are made available at the time of the initial interview.
WHAT IS YOUR FEE AND HOW IS IT PAID?
Our fees are discussed at the time of the initial interview. A percent of the fee for a birth doula is due with the signing of the contract and is non-refundable. The balance is due at the time of the postpartum visit. Postpartum services are retained by the signing of a contract and a deposit. Education services are billed on an hourly basis.
ARE SERVICES COVERED BY INSURANCE?
You will have to check with your insurance provider to verify your coverage. We will furnish you with an invoice which you may submit for reimbursement. Flexible spending accounts may also cover costs.
WHAT IS YOUR BACK UP POLICY FOR BIRTHS?
We always engage a backup doula in the event we are unexpectedly unable to be with you for your labor and delivery. Reasons for unavailability might be illness or a family emergency. We are careful not to book clients with the same estimated due date to avoid possible conflicts and so that we may give our full attention to each client.
